Brian Thompson (PhD, ATC, CSCS*D, RSCC*D, FMS)  is currently the Director of Strength and Conditioning/Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, a Professor of Exercise Science, and the Graduate Strength and Conditioning Program Director at Springfield College where he has worked since 1998. Thompson is responsible for the strength and conditioning program design and implementation for all 26 teams at Springfield College as well as teaching and advising in the Graduate Strength and Conditioning program.

In the spring of 2017, Thompson was awarded the RSCC*E recognition, the highest honor given by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  

Thompson was presented with the honor at the annual NSCA National Conference.  The current Director of Strength and Conditioning/Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Professor of Exercise Science, and the Graduate Strength and Conditioning Program Director at Springfield College, Thompson was recognized for his expertise and leadership.  To date, Thompson is one of only 88 strength and conditioning coaches in the nation to have received the RSCC*E recognition. Under his direction, Springfield College has produced some of the finest strength and conditioning coaches in the country, with alums coaching in the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL, as well at the NCAA Division I, II, and III levels, and in the private sector. 

Thompson first started working in the field of strength and conditioning in 1987 and has trained athletes at the elementary school, middle school, high school, collegiate, professional, Paralympic and Olympic levels. He has presented and/or conducted strength and conditioning related workshops in Australia, China, Mexico, Taiwan and throughout the United States. Brian received his Bachelor’s degree from Ball State University in Athletic Training and his Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the University of Illinois.

Thompson has been the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Springfield College since the summer of 2010 and a full time faculty member since 1998. He first started working in the field of strength and conditioning in 1992 and has trained athletes at the middle school, high school, collegiate, professional, and olympic levels. He currently supervises the strength and conditioning program design and implementation for 18 teams at Springfield College. His competitive sports background includes power lifting, wrestling, and college football.

 

Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach/Coordinator of Sports Nutrition

Robin Amylon MS, RD, CSCS, USAW

Amylon will enter her first year as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and Coordinator of Sports Nutrition during the 2017-18 academic year. Amylon recently completed her Master's degree in Strength and Conditioning from Springfield College, where she was a strength coach for men's lacrosse, women's gymnastics, field hockey and diving teams.

Amylon, a North Scituate, R.I. native, graduated from Queens College in 2011 with two degrees, including a Bachelor's of Science degree in Nutrition and Exercise Science, along with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Family and Consumer Science, Didactic Program in Dietetics. For 10 years prior to her arrival at Springfield College, Amylon was a personal trainer at both Crunch Fitness and New York Sports Club.
