Football Cracks Into D3footballl.com and AFCA National Polls

Springfield, Mass. - October 8, 2017 -In the midst of one of the best starts to a season in program history, the Springfield College football team cracked into the both the D3football.com Top 25 Poll and American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Coaches' Poll.

Following its sixth-straight win of the 2017 campaign, Springfield is now ranked 25th in the nation in both polls, marking the program's highest national ranking in the poll since Week 3 of the 2007 season when it was 18th in the country.  In the D3football.com poll, the Pride is the only team in New England to appear in the top 25, and one of three from the region mentioned among the 43 programs receiving votes in the poll.  In the AFCA poll, Springfield is also only New England squad in the top 25, and one of seven from the area mentioned among the 49 programs receiving votes in the poll.

Springfield currently has the best rushing offense in all of college football, as its 435 yards per game ranks first among the 661 programs that play football across the NCAA Division I, III, and III landscape.  Ranking 10th in Division III in scoring offense with 41.8 points per game, the Pride's defense has been just as impressive and currently is second in the country in red zone defense (.417), third in third-down conversion defense (.214), while also ranking 11th in total defense (227.7 yards per game) and scoring defense (11.5).

Heading into Week 7, Springfield is one of only 23 Division III football programs to be undefeated, and one of only four teams to own a 6-0 record, joining No. 10 Delaware Valley, No. 18 Berry, and MacMurry. 

Springfield will hit the road again this upcoming Saturday to square off with Merchant Marine on Long Island for a 2 pm contest.
