Danbury, Conn. - December 4, 2017 - The Springfield College football program landed four student-athletes on the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Football All-Region Team. Nick Bainter (East Bridgewater, Mass.), Nick Giorgio (Cumberland, R.I.), and Jordan Wilcox (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) were each selected as first-team honorees, while Christopher Hayden (Madison, Maine) collected second-team accolades.
Bainter, who is majoring in Applied Exercise Science, started all 10 games as Springfield's center and helped orchestrate one of the top offenses in all of college football. This year, the Pride ran for nearly 4,800 yards, averaging 435 yards per game, which resulted the Pride owning the seventh-best scoring offense in the country (43.6 ppg), while its 19.15 passing yards per completion was the fourth-best in the nation.
Hayden is an Applied Exercise Science major with a 3.94 GPA and was instrumental on the Pride's offensive line in paving the way for the nation's top ground attack. A NEWMAC First-Team All-Conference selection and the owner of the top GPA among the 22 student-athletes from New England previously selected for the CoSIDA All-District honor, Hayden's toughness on the line allowed the Pride to rank seventh in the country in third-down conversion (49.6%).
