Springfield, Mass. - October 9, 2018 - Springfield College's Hunter Belzo (Middletown, Conn.) was honored by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) as he was chosen as the NEWMAC Football Offensive Athlete of the Week.
In just his second career start at quarterback, Belzo had the best performance of his collegiate career in Saturday's 26-12 win over Coast Guard as the Pride pushed its record to 5-1. The junior carried the ball 31 times for a career-high 207 yards and averaged 6.7 yards per carry and rushed for a pair of touchdowns. He also threw for a career-high 39 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown. Under the Criminal Justice's leadership, Springfield totaled 352 yards of total offense and averaged over five yards per offensive play.
The Pride will now prepare for the critical conference matchup with Merchant Marine this upcoming Saturday at 2 pm on Stagg Field.
