Cambridge, Mass. - October 7, 2017 - The Springfield College men's soccer team defeated MIT, 2-0, on Saturday evening at Steinbrenner Stadium, to remain unbeaten to start the season, as the Pride is now 10-0 overall and 4-0 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play. With the loss, MIT is now 4-5-2 on the year with a 2-2 mark against conference opponents.

Junior forward Christian Schneider (Douglas, Mass.) continued his torrid offensive pace as he scored for the third time in the last four games and pushed his season total to five markers. Dexter Tenn (South Windsor, Conn.) also kept his hot touch and found the back of the net for the second-straight game.

In net, Stewart Frank (Pittsford, N.Y.) had three saves for the Pride to preserve his seventh shutout of the season, while his counterpart Jeremy Cowham (Quincy, Mass.) made four stops in 90 minutes of play. Springfield College owned a 20-8 shot advantage, including 11-2 in the first half, while it was also awarded five corner kicks to the Engineers' five.

After a scoreless first 45 minutes of play, Springfield College struck first just 4:59 into the second frame when Schneider picked up a loose ball in front of the MIT net and blasted home his fifth of the year, before Tenn put the finishing touches on the clean-sheet victory in the 85th minute when the sophomore stung a shot from 25-yards out that found its way past Cowham to seal the win. Cam Powell (Housatonic, Mass.) picked up his sixth point and second assist of the season on Schneider's goal, while Schneider helped set up Tenn for his second of the season.

Up next, Springfield College will return to Brock-Affleck Field on Tuesday, October 10 when it will host UMass Boston at 7:30 p.m.
