Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Compete In Hall of Fame Sprintvite

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - January 5, 2017 - The Springfield College men's and women's swimming and diving programs competed in the Hall of Fame Sprintvite at the Hall of Fame Aquatic Center on December 31st as part of their annual winter training trip in Florida.

The meet consisted of student-athletes from Springfield College, Macalester College, St. Olaf, and Franklin. 

Springfield had the top two swimmers in the 50 fly, as Anthony Soares (Worcester, Mass.) won the men's race in 26.40, while Izzy Ripp (Selden, N.Y.) took first on the women's side in 29.18.  In the 50 breast, Soares was the winner in 30.59, as was Christine Shea (Peabody, Mass.) as she clocked in in 34.70. 

Springfield was victorious in both 500 crescendo relays, with the women's squad of Olivia Paione (Auburn, Maine), Brianna Magee (Hauppauge, N.Y.), Kassandra Lamb (Reading, Mass.), and Julia Rigatti (High Bridge, N.J.) combining to swim a 5:14.00.  For the men, Sean Harnish (Middlebury, Conn.), Nicholas Smith (Longmeadow, Mass.), Christopher Schreiner (Fairfield, Conn.), and Vladimir Burnin (Sosnovy Bor, Russia) produced a time of 4:52.03.
