Honda and Romaine Receive NEWMAC All-Conference Honors

Springfield, Mass. - May 9, 2018 - The Springfield College men's tennis team was one of only three programs in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) to have multiple all-conference singles players and an all-conference doubles team as the conference's yearly awards were recently announced.

Both Alex Romaine (Stamford, Conn.) and Court Honda (Morioka, Japan) were named to the NEWMAC All-Conference Singles Team, while the duo also garnered NEWMAC All-Conference Doubles accolades.

In his final season at Springfield, Romaine produced a a record of 8-6 at the No. 1 singles spot, which included a pair of wins in conference play.  Honda had an 8-5 record at the No. 2 singles spot, and went 3-3 in conference action.

The duo was the Springfield's top doubles team this season and one of only four from the conference to earn the end-of-the-year accolade.  Romaine and Honda finished the season with a 10-4 mark, including a 4-2 mark in NEWMAC play.
