Springfield, Mass. - September 17, 2019 - The Springfield College field hockey team edged visiting Eastern Connecticut State, 1-0, on Tuesday afternoon on Stagg Field.
For the third-straight season Springfield improved to 5-1 to start the season, while the Warriors slipped to 1-4. The Pride dominated possession throughout the game, owning a 33-1 advantage and took all 16 of the game's penalty corners.
The Pride wasted no time netting the game's only goal following Springfield's first penalty corner of the afternoon. After Emma Wesoloski (South Deerfield, Mass.) delivered the corner to Morgan Bronk (Ballston Lake, N.Y.), Bronk drilled a shot on cage which Wesoloski was able to redirect to give the hosts a 1-0 lead just 4:05 into the contest.
The Pride held a 20-0 cushion in shots through the first three quarters of the game and took 11 in the final 15 minutes of play. ECSU's goalie Keira Integlia finished the game with 22 saves, including 14 in the second half, while Elizabeth Morehouse (North Attleboro, Mass.) made a save on the lone shot she faced in the game.
Springfield will continue its six-game homestand on Saturday afternoon when it takes on local-foe Elms at 12 pm on Stagg Field.
