Worcester, Mass. - November 27, 2018 - The Springfield College men's basketball team was upended by Becker College, 74-70, on Tuesday evening in a non-conference game played in Leicester Gymnasium.

Becker's Kareem Davis put together an offensive show, netting 34 points, on 12-of-18 shooting, including 6-of-10 from deep. The Hawks owned a 33-29 advantage on the glass.
Holding a 10-8 lead at the 13:48 mark of the first half, the Pride put together a 9-3 spurt capped off by a triple from the left wing by Post to push its cushion to 19-1 with just over 10 minutes left in the stanza. Springfield's lead would grow to 24-13 following a deep three from Clay with 8:52 on the clock, but Becker would use a 9-2 burst of their own in just over two minutes to pull within 26-22. The visitors were seemingly in control, leading 35-28 with 2:04 left in regulation following another long-range jumper by Clay, only to have Becker close out the half on a 7-1 surge to make it a 36-35 ballgame at the half. The Pride shot 50% from the floor in the opening 20 minutes of action, connecting on 14 of their 28 field goal attempts, with nine different players scoring at least two points.
Elijah Moreno-Winston (Oswego, Ill.) finished a tough bucket inside to start the half for the Pride, but Becker erupted on a 12-0 run, fueled by a pair of triples by Davis, to gain a nine-point advantage at 47-38 just under three minutes into the frame. Springfield slowly chipped away at the lead, using a Jake Jacobson (Branford, Conn.) score in transition to force the hosts into a timeout as their lead was trimmed to 49-46 at 15:08. Becker would later build a 57-48 lead on another jumper by Davis at 12:04, but Springfield netted seven-straight points, including five from Trey Witter (Unionville, Conn.)., to make it a one-posession game with 9:33 to play.
Springfield was able to tie the game at 62-all thanks to a three-pointer by Cam Earle (South Hadley, Mass.) with 4:44 on the clock, but Mateus Ribeiro answered with back-to-back buckets to give the hosts the lead for good. Springfield would get within one possession three times down the stretch but was unable to complete their comeback.
Springfield will finish its six-game roadswing on Wednesday, December 5 at Trinity. Game time is set for 7 pm.
