Golf Begins 2021 Campaign At Duke Nelson Invitational
Middlebury, Vt. - September 11, 2021 - The Springfield College golf team began their 2021 campaign at the Duke Nelson Invitational on Saturday as it played in the first round at the The Ralph Myhre Golf Course of Middlebury College.
Playing at the Par 71 course that measured 6,339 yards, Springfield turned in a first round score of 321 strokes and is tied for 16th among the 23 teams in the competition.
Nicholas DeMaio (West Springfield, Mass.) had the Pride's best score of the day as he shot a 79, posting a round that featured nine pars. Both Corey Roya (Manchester, Conn.) and Aidan McBride (Ludlow, Mass.) carded 80's in their first round of the season, as each posted 37's on the front nine. Jack Shane (Hamden, Conn.) followed with an 82, and Damon Monks (Woburn, Mass.) produced an 89 in his first collegiate action.
Springfield will wrap up the two-day event on Sunday.
