Golf Finishes 12th at Duke Nelson Invitational
Middlebury, Vt. - September 11, 2021 - The Springfield College golf team improved their second-round team score by 13 strokes to finish the Duke Nelson Invitational in 12th place on Sunday at The Ralph Myhre Golf Course of Middlebury College.
Of the 23 teams in the competition, Springfield posted a second-round score of 308, besting their opening round 321 to complete the two-day total of 629.
Aidan McBride (Ludlow, Mass.) birded the first hole of the day and shot a one-over par front nine en route to registering a 75 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 43rd with a two-day score of +13. Both Nicholas DeMaio (West Springfield, Mass.) and Corey Roya (Manchester, Conn.) shot 77's on Sunday, with DeMaio delivering three birdies and Roya posting seven pars on the back nine. DeMaio finished +14 in the tournament and Roya was one-shot behind him.
Jack Shane (Hamden, Conn.) was even par through the first 11 holes on Sunday and finished with a 79 to complete his two-day total of +19, and Damon Monks (Woburn, Mass.) rounded out the Pride's competitors with an 81 on Sunday.
Springfield will compete in the MASCAC Preview on Tuesday at Berkshire Hills Country Club.
