Golf Takes Fourth At MASCAC Championships Preview
Pittsfield, Mass. - September 14, 2021 - In a tuneup for the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships that are three weeks away, the Springfield College men's golf team competed at the MASCAC Preview and finished fourth with 332 strokes at Berkshire Hills Country Club.
Just a day after taking 12th at the Duke Nelson Invitational against some of the top teams in the region, Springfield was fourth among the eight teams in the field on Tuesday. Fresh of being named the MASCAC Golfer of the Week, Aidan McBride (Ludlow, Mass.) had the Pride's best score of the day with a +6, 78. His round was highlighted by a string of nine-consecutive pars as he posted a 36 on the front nine and finished tied for seventh individually.
Corey Roya (Manchester, Conn.) shot an 82 as he carded 41's on the front and the back and deliver a pair of birdies on the round en route to placing 11th. Damon Monks (Woburn, Mass.) had an 84 for the Pride, as he posted a 38 on the back thanks to a pair of birdies, and Jack Shane (Hamden, Conn.) registered an 88, as he bounced back from a tough start to tally eight-straight pars to conclude his round.
Springfield now prepare for the MASCAC Championships, slated for October 4-5.
