Taub and Sablon Make Collegiate Debuts In ITA Regional Championships
Brunswick, Maine - September 24, 2021 - The Springfield College men's tennis team returned to the courts on Friday as it had two student-athletes compete on the regional stage at the ITA New England Regional Championship at Bowdoin College.
The duo of Zachary Taub (New Windsor, N.Y.) and Waseem Sablon (Stoughton, Mass.) made their collegiate debuts for the Pride and started off the competition with a hard-fought 8-6 setback in doubles action versus Colby-Sawyer.
Sablon would later go on to battle ninth-seeded Colin Fox from Brandeis and was bested by a 6-1, 6-2 decision. Taub clashed with Henry Bilcici of Trinity and dropped the match by the scores of 6-3, 7-5. Taub nearly pulled out a win in the second set as he was serving with a 5-4 advantage before Bilcici rallied for the victory.
Springfield will compete again on October 7 when it travels to face Nichols.
