Silvester Finishes 12th In The Triple Jump At NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Greensboro, N.C. - May 29, 2021 - Josh Silvester (Manchester, Conn.) capped off his memorable senior season with the Springfield College men's track and field team in the triple jump on Saturday at the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University.

A four-time national qualifier, today marked the second time in his career that Silvester has competed in the national outdoor championships.  On his first attempt of the competition, Silvester delivered his best mark of the day with 14.18m (46-06.25), which put him in 12th place among the 17 competitors in the event.  In fact, it was the same distance he jumped at the 2019 NCAA Championships when he took 17th overall.

Seeded third in the competition with a qualifying distance of 15.09m (49' 6.25"), Silvester opened up the final day of the three-day championship as the first jumper in the second flight.  Silvester previously won the 2021 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) triple jump individual title at the conference championships on May 2 with a mark of 48-02.50, and his qualifying mark of 15.09m came at the All-New England Championships were he was the regional runner-up.
