Men's Cross Country Lands Third-Place Finish At James Earley Invitational
Westfield, Mass. - October 9, 2021- The Springfield College men's cross country program competed in the James Earley Invitational at Stanley Park on Saturday afternoon and put together an impressive showing.
Racing in the 8k, Springfield earned a third place finish out of 21 programs. Vassar College took first, followed by Trinity College, the Pride came in with a 117 point total.
Springfield was led by John DeRosa (Shelton, Conn.), who put forth a personal best effort in the 8k with a 26:17.1 time, and placed 13th out of 164 student-athletes. Adam Mula (West Townsend, Mass.) notched a 26:38.0 finish, while Chris Vayda (Southampton, Mass.) followed shortly behind at 26:40.1. Ricky Perruzzi (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished the race with a personal-best mark of 27:04.8, meanwhile, Rece Gobel (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) contributed a time of 27:06.8 for the Pride.
Springfield races again on October 16 at the Connecticut College Invitational.
