Clark Shines as Women’s Gymnastics Takes First at Ithaca

Ithaca, N.Y. – Jan. 25, 2014 – The Springfield College women’s gymnastics team finished first among the three teams competing at Ithaca College on Saturday morning as it posted a team score of 184.575 .

The Pride’s mark of 184.575, was followed by Ursinus College’s team score of 180.125, while host Ithaca College rounded out the scoring with a 175.925.

 Abby Clark (Holderness, N.H.) was the top all-around competitor with a 37.575, followed by teammate Lauren Pocius (Wallingford, Conn.), who totaled a 37.100.

On the vault, Springfield had the top four scores, with Clark’s mark of 9.475 earning first place. Kristin Feliu (Elkridge, Md.) placed second with a 9.450, while Nicole Silva (Barrington, R.I.) and Rachel Mattison (Andover, Mass.) tied for third with a 9.375.

Pocius performed the top routine on the uneven parallel bars in the meet, producing a first-place score of 9.625.

Springfield also had a strong showing on the beam with Clark and Pocius leading the way once again. Clark earned yet another first-place with a 9.475, and Pocius was the runner-up after recording a 9.350. Teammate Keelin O’Connell (Pembroke, Mass.) placed third with a 9.325

Clark was also the winner on the floor, as her 9.550 topped the competition. Silva registered a 9.500 to notch second, and Pocius placed third with a 9.425.

Springfield will compete again next Sunday when it hosts Cortland at 1:00 pm.
