Springfield, Mass. – February 9, 2014 - Springfield College junior Lauren Pocius (Wallingford, Conn.) broke the school record on the uneven parallel bars on Sunday despite a 192.825 – 181.075 loss to visiting Brown University.
The junior posted a score of 9.675, beating the old record of 9.65 previously held by Meg Geddes since 1993. Pocius placed third in the event on Sunday. She continued her success on the floor routine, where she posted a team-high score of 9.600, her personal best. In the all-around, Pocius scored a 37.100, for fourth place overall.
On the balance beam, Nicole Caradonna (Lynnfield, Mass.) was the top finisher for the Pride, scoring a 8.950, with Kelsi Levesque (Coventry, Conn.) following suit, posting a 8.800. Keelin O’Connell (Pembroke, Mass.)
Kristin Feliu (Elkridge, Md.) was the top finisher for Springfield on the vault, posting a 9.525. Nicole Silva (Barrington, R.I.) finished second on the team with a personal best of 9.475.
Levesque and teammate Jenna Croteau (North Kingstown, R.I.) finished the floor exercise with personal best scores, Levesque finishing with a 9.325 and Croteau with a 9.475.
Up next for the Pride will be next weekend when Springfield travels to New Haven, Conn. to take on Southern Connecticut, Cortland State University and Bridgeport at 1:00 p.m.
