Women's Gymnastics Produces Fifth-Best GPA In The Country; Best In Division III

Bowling Green, Ohio - August 23, 2019 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics team was recognized as one of the best academic programs in the country, as it earned a cumulative grade-point average of 3.6932 during the 2018-19 academic year. A total of 16 student-athletes were recognized individually and earned Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Scholastic All-America honors.

Of the 76 teams that had a cumulative grade-point average of over 3.0, Springfield College had the fifth-best across all Divisions and had the top team grade point average among Division III institutions that compete in the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA). Springfield College's 16 student-athletes to earn WCGA Scholastic All-America honors was the third most in the entire country, regardless of Division. 

Springfield College's individual honorees included Jess Clemens (South Setauket, N.Y.), Leah Jewett (Guilford, Conn.), Taylor Tattan (Beverly, Mass.), Sarah Murphy (Norwell, Mass.), Brooke Hensen (Fredericksburg, Va.), Taylor Jackson (Ocean, N.J.), Taylor Campagnone (Johnston, R.I.), Tali Twomey (Cotuit, Mass.), Victoria Gendreau (Warren, R.I.), Sara Fisher (Pelham, N.H.), Sara King (Maribor, Slovenia), Lena Morant (Gambrills, Md.), MacKenzie MacLeod (Kennebunk, Maine), Kaitlyn Lindsay (West Boylston, Mass.), Heather Gomes (Beverly, Mass.), and Alana Calabrese (West Hartford, Conn.)

In order to qualify as a WCGA Scholastic All-American, student-athletes must have a grade-point average of 3.5 or better. Overall, there were 31 teams and more than 56 percent of student-athletes maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or more on a 4.0 scale, with a record number of student-athletes, 125 (8.91%), recording a 4.0 GPA.
