Women's Soccer Falls In Season Opener to Endicott, 1-0

Beverly, Mass. - September 4, 2021 - The Springfield College women's soccer program dropped their season opener to Endicott by a 1-0 decision on Saturday evening at Hempstead Stadium.

Springfield now starts the 2021 season 0-1 and the Gulls earn their first win of the season. Each program registered 10 shots on the game and remained even in corner kicks at six a piece.

Amelia Harper (Taylorsville, Utah) and the Springfield defense kept the Gulls' attack at bay for much of the first half. At 14:32, Harper made a save on a Madeline Mucher shot that would keep the score 0-0. At 17:38 Kaleigh Dale (Mansfield, Conn.) would break free for an attempt, but would miss high and Maddie Bailey (Pembroke, N.H.) would get a pair of looks, at 21:09 and 24:40, but they were contested by the Gulls' defense.

At 37:21, Endicott would gain the advantage as Morgan Hubert would find Riley Rischitelli for a strike that connected on the top cross bar and ricocheted into the goal giving Endicott the 1-0 lead, which would prove to be the game-winner.

Springfield put up five shots in the second half in the setback. In her first appearance at Springfield, Harper made three saves in the setback.

The Pride play again on September 7 as they travel to UMass-Dartmouth for a 7pm matchup.
