Tenney and Dewhurst Shine in Opening Day of NEICAA All New England Championships

Boston, Mass. - February 1, 2019 - The Springfield College women's track and field team had six student-athletes begin competition at the NEICAAA All New England Championships on Friday afternoon, which was hosted in the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.

Competing against Division I, II and III student-athletes, freshman Chloe Dewhurst (Lancaster, Mass.) had the Pride's most impressive effort of the day, as she cleared 1.66 meters, or 5 feet, 5.25 inches en route to a tie for sixth place in the event. Also competing in the high jump was Mia Facchini (Chicopee, Mass.), Taylor Nogiec (Berlin, Conn.) and Caroline Hitchcock (Agawam, Mass.).

Senior Tiffany Tenney (Orange, Mass.) earned a spot in the 400 meter dash, and produced a time of 58.92 seconds, which was over a four-second personal best, while in the 800 meter run, Kristen Madeia (Berlin, Conn.) came in 20th with a time of 2:25.25. 

Springfield College will resume competition on Saturday, February 2, as the Pride will compete at the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational in Middletown, Conn.
