Women's Cross Country Places Fifth At James Earley Invitational

Westfield, Mass. - October 9, 2021- The Springfield College women's cross country program raced in the James Earley Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Stanley Park and finished fifth overall in the race out of 24 programs, with a point total of 156.

Smith came in at the top spot with Mount Holyoke following in at second ahead of Williams and Vassar.

Brenna LaChapelle (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was Springfield's top finisher with a time of 19:27.7, which placed the junior 19th out of 179 student-athletes. Sophie Curcio (New Cannan, Conn.) carried 6:18.4 splits en route to a 19:35.7 overall finish in the race, while Kathryn Bonanno (Ellington, Conn.) clocked a 19:50.3 time for the Pride. Elizabeth Rose (Storrs, Conn.) contributed a 20:04.5 time and Heather Fontaine (Brimfield, Mass.) ran a 6:30 pace for a 20:11.9 time. 

Springfield will now shift their focus to the Connecticut College Invitational coming on Saturday, October 16.
